On Sunday, March 30, the Sri Lanka Saukyadana Movement conducted a successful Social Services Camp at Poorwarama Temple in Gawaragiriya, marking the conclusion of its outreach activities for the month of March.
Organized by Saukyadana's dedicated and veteran volunteer team, the camp drew significant participation from the local community. Of particular note was the high number of women who availed themselves of free diabetes, vision care, and general wellness screenings—underscoring the pressing need for accessible preventive healthcare services in rural areas. Many attendees were provided with medical referrals for further evaluation and treatment.
The camp also extended support to younger community members, with approximately 100 Daham School students receiving thoughtfully prepared gift kits containing stationery, pencils, and books, generously donated by Thaksila College and Sri Palee National School, Horana.
This initiative exemplifies the Movement’s ongoing commitment to promoting health and well-being in underserved regions. Given the positive response and community impact, the success of this event reinforces the importance of continuing and expanding such outreach programs in the near future.
